Motorization of Curtains

Your Home, Smarter and Safer

The motorization of curtains has revolutionized the way we interact with our spaces. By installing motors in your curtains, you will be able to open and close them automatically and remotely, as they allow you to control your curtains comfortably and efficiently. They help make your home safer by not having ropes or chains and make your life easier.

When a curtain is motorized you can operate it with any of these options:

  • Remote control: This is the most traditional method and allows you to open or close the curtains with the push of a button on your controller.
  • Mobile app: With an app on your smartphone, you can schedule, create scenes, and control curtains from anywhere with an internet connection.
  • Voice assistants: Say goodbye to buttons! With assistants like Alexa or Google Assistant, you'll be able to open or close the curtains with a simple voice command, such as "Alexa, close the curtains in the room."

Motorized curtains can be controlled with smart systems and are revolutionizing the way we interact with our homes.

Key benefits

  • Comfort: Forget about pulling cords or manually lifting curtains. With a simple voice command or a tap on your smartphone, you can open or close the curtains from anywhere in your home or even when you're not in your home.
  • Automation: Schedule your curtains to open or close at certain times of the day, simulating your presence at home and improving safety. You can also create custom scenes for different times of the day, such as "Waking Up" or "Resting."
  • Energy saving: It regulates the entry of natural light into your rooms automatically, allowing you to maintain a more constant temperature and reduce energy consumption in heating and cooling.
  • Adaptability: They adapt to different types of curtains and windows, from roller blinds to sliding panels, offering a wide range of options to personalize your home.
  • Integration with other devices: Many smart shades are compatible with home automation systems, allowing you to control them along with other devices such as lights, thermostats, and smart locks.

Types of curtain motors

There are two main types of motors to operate the curtains: 120-volt motors and battery-powered motors.

120-volt electric motors

  • Power supply: They connect directly to the 120-volt electrical current in your home.
  • Power: They generally offer more power and speed of movement compared to battery-powered motors.
  • Installation: They require a more complex installation, as they need to be plugged into a power outlet and possibly make modifications to the electrical installation.
  • Ideal for: Large or frequently used curtains, as they ensure constant and uninterrupted operation.

Battery motors

  • Power supply: They are battery-powered (most of these are rechargeable, but there are some models that run on non-rechargeable AA battery packs), making them more versatile and easier to install.
  • Installation: They do not require a fixed electrical connection, so they are ideal for places where there is no power outlet nearby or for curtains that move infrequently.
  • Autonomy: The battery life will depend on the use and size of the curtain, but generally the battery charge lasts 4 to 6 months. When the battery is fully discharged, it requires a 5-hour recharge to operate the curtain again.
  • Ideal for: Curtains in places without 120 volt power, low windows or in rooms where a more discreet installation is preferred.
